Last week Marvellians descended upon Omaha, Nebraska for the Marvell sessions held in affiliation with the South Central Renaissance Conference. Those hoping to enjoy a whiff of midwestern spring were disappointed, as snow and wind swirled throughout the proceedings. But there was little to be disappointed with indoors: it was a full and varied program, with five packed Marvell sessions in addition to the Louis L. Martz lecture, elegantly delivered by our own Nicholas von Maltzahn. And of course a convivial dinner, as enjoyable for the company if not quite as memorable for the food as New Orleans. A handful of Marvellians even ventured out for a night of indie rock music at Saddle Creek Records hotspot the Slowdown.
Minutes of the annual business shall be made available online in due course. Next year SCRC will meet 3-5 April in Tucson, Arizona, an inviting prospect after the chill of Omaha!
