With just days to go before the deadline for submissions for the South-Central Renaissance Conference’s Exploring the Renaissance 2012, March 8-10, 2012, in New Orleans, Marvellians have one last chance to offer a paper for one of our designated sessions. Anyone who has attended Marvell sessions at SCRC in the past knows what a convivial and animated experience it is, and we hope you join us. The gathering in New Orleans is shaping up to be an exciting event for Marvellians, with a panel discussion of “The Gallery,” a plenary on Marvell and education by Lynn Enterline of Vanderbilt University, who is extending her recent exploration of Shakespeare’s Schoolroom (her book on which is appearing shortly from Penn) into the seventeenth century, and an array of fascinating submissions already under review (including an account of a new manuscript from Past President Nicholas von Maltzahn). Other topics solicited include “Last Instructions to a Painter” (a panel discussion), Marvell’s Life and Biographical Interpretations, Marvell and Religion, and Marvell and the Drama. We do very much hope that Marvell Newsletter readers will be able to send an abstract on one of these or some other topic of interest and hope to see you in New Orleans in the spring.
As is explained on the SCRC website, abstracts only (400-500 words; a shorter 100-word abstract for inclusion in the program), for papers of no more than 20 minutes reading time, should be submitted online no later than December 15, 2011 via the SCRC website’s submission abstract form.
Program participants are required to join SCRC and are encouraged to submit publication-length versions of their papers to the SCRC journal, Explorations in Renaissance Culture.
We hope to see you in New Orleans in the spring!
With best wishes,
Joan Faust
